Developer Relations

A platform becomes useful when people can build with it. Documentation, technical education and developer programs bring that path into focus, informed by hands-on engineering.

Developer relations connects a platform with the people trying to use it. Clear documentation, working samples, technical education and well-designed programs remove different kinds of friction. This work spans the explanation of an API, the path through a learning experience and the structure of a developer competition.

Explain the mental model

Start with the concepts a developer needs to make a good decision. Follow the explanation with visuals and technical guidance that connect it to implementation.

Teach through working examples

Code samples and demonstrations expose the practical details that an API reference can leave implicit. They make a platform easier to try, understand and adapt.

Create a useful way to participate

A developer program needs clear entry points and expectations. Categories, workshops and competition criteria influence who can take part and what they can build.

01 Developer Mentorship

Meta Horizon Start supports VR developers through community, technical support, education and development resources.

Planned contribution

We plan to bring our hands-on XR engineering experience to developer mentorship through Meta Horizon Start. That experience spans technical showcases, platform API integration and practical learning resources. Participation has not yet been formalized; this section previews the intended work.

02 Device Access Toolkit Walkthrough

A practical look at connectivity, permissions and camera streaming with Meta wearables.

Our contribution

We created a recorded walkthrough of the Device Access Toolkit setup and connection flow. It shows how the Meta AI app connects supported glasses with third-party applications, including the permissions and camera-streaming steps. Making the sequence visible gives developers a practical reference alongside the API documentation.

03 Meta Mixed Reality Documentation

Overhauling Meta’s mixed reality documentation, from platform concepts to practical Unity guidance.

Our contribution

We helped overhaul Meta’s mixed reality documentation, restructuring the material and rewriting technical guidance across the wider platform. Within MRUK, we worked closely with the team on clearer explanatory visuals and new technical samples. The goal was to connect concepts, API behaviour and working implementations so developers could understand both what a capability does and how to use it.

04 Meta Horizon Start Developer Competition

Helping shape the competition through proposed categories, target use cases and the prize-money split.

Our contribution

We played a substantial role in shaping the competition by proposing the categories and use cases developers would compete in. We also proposed how the prize money should be divided between those categories. Together, those decisions helped translate platform goals into concrete opportunities for different kinds of developers and experiences.

05 Technical Education

Articles, videos and courses built from hands-on development. We turn complex XR concepts into working examples, write the explanations and record demonstrations developers can follow. Courses created with Meta, XR Bootcamp and Photon connect those lessons into complete mixed reality and multiplayer projects.
